Pilates for Beginners: What to Expect at Your First Class at Core

First time at Core Community? Welcome! It's completely normal for it to be your first time, and we are here to support you every step of the way.

Here is everything you need to know to feel confident and ready for your first class.

Start with the Intro Offer

If you're a new client, we have an intro offer: 2 group classes for only $48 + tax. It's the perfect way to try Reformer Pilates and get a feel for our studios before committing to a membership or pack.

The intro pack can be used at both our Kitsilano and Main Street locations.

We also offer an intro offer for Private Sessions. If you prefer a one-on-one experience with an instructor, this is a great way to get started with personalized attention from day one. Visit corecommunity.ca for details.

Download the App

Booking is easiest through the Core Community app. You'll get quick access to our schedule and online store. Book and cancel classes, move your spot in class, and buy memberships, packs, and more.

Available for iPhone and Android.

Book Your First Class

We offer 9 different types of Pilates apparatus classes. If you're not sure where to start, we always recommend the Align class. It's designed specifically for first-timers and will introduce you to the Reformer in a supportive, beginner-friendly environment.

You can browse all class types and book through our app or at corecommunity.ca.

Pack Your Essentials

Grip socks are required for all sessions. They keep you stable on the Reformer and are a studio standard. If you don't have a pair, we have plenty available for purchase at the studio.

Bring a water bottle. Water is available for purchase at our Kitsilano location, and there's a water fountain at Main Street.

What to Wear

Wear anything that lets you move comfortably and allows your instructor to see your alignment and posture. Form-fitting or fitted activewear works best, as loose clothing can get caught in the Reformer springs.

No shoes are allowed inside the studio rooms.

Arrive Early

We ask all new clients to arrive 15 minutes early so we can give you a studio tour, show you how the equipment works, and make sure you feel comfortable before class begins.

Please note: first-time clients who do not arrive with sufficient time before class start time will not be permitted into class. We want your first experience to be a great one, and arriving early makes all the difference.

Know Our Policies

Classes start at their scheduled times. Please plan to arrive early so you have time to use the restroom, fill your water bottle, and put on your socks. We want everyone settled in and ready to go when class starts.

For full details, visit corecommunity.ca/policies. And if you ever have a question or concern, we will always do our best to help.
